The MAD Performing Company
The Performing Companies at MAD are distinctive and select groups of dancers consisting of students who are skilled, serious about dance, and willing to work very hard. Company placement is based on teacher recommendations as well as audition criteria. Company Members are required to be present in all classes and at all rehearsals and performances that are scheduled. In addition, Company members are required to attend all workshops and competitions that we will enter. They also agree to attend our mandatory Summer Session and are expected to participate in our Intensive Workshop that is scheduled in the Summer. We do expect these students to make an additional commitment to dance in the form of additional classes, workshops, competitions and costumes. We usually enter one competition per year. We also perform at various functions in the community as often as possible. Participation in Company is for the serious dancer who is motivated to turn potential into talent.
The Competition Team is an extension of the Performing Company. In addition to the Company requirements, the Competition Team participates in choreography workshops over the summer, attends weekly rehearsals throughout the dance season and performs in several dance competitions during the year. The Competition Team is for the competitive, advanced company level dancer who is interested in training for and dancing at a collegiate level, applying and auditioning for a performing arts program in college or dancing professionally with an adult performing company.
