of, noting, or characteristic of a metropolis or its inhabitants, especially in culture, sophistication, or in accepting and combining a wide variety of people, ideas, etc.
As our definition suggests, our dance Metropolis is filled with male and female students who are just beginning their dance journey to students who have been dancing competitively for several years. Our teachers come to us with a wealth of experience and training. many have danced at a college level, earned their degrees in dance pedagogy, or are currently dancing professionally.
The faculty of the Metropolitan Academy of Dance feels that one of the most important aspects of dance training is providing dancers with a sense of well-being and self-confidence. It gives a person a feeling of accomplishment and an improved self-image. Dance training not only improves coordination and physical strength but also strengthens discipline and perseverance which will, in turn, carry over to all areas of a person's life. All teachers in our school are highly trained professionals with extensive teaching experience. We offer a full range of classes for students of all ages and levels, from preschool through professional.
Sir Ken Robinson's 2006,
Do Schools Kill Creativity?
Sir Ken Robinson was an international speaker and advisor on education. He was an inspirational visionary in his field who championed the creative endeavors in children and the importance of the arts. This is why we do what we do!
"We've been taking classes and doing camps here for the past two years, and I am so highly impressed with their professionalism and genuine love for their dancers. The teachers and staff are phenomenal, and their class sizes are small. I grew up dancing and was in pursuit of a studio that takes dance seriously while still keeping it fun. We've found our forever dance home."
